Daisies-Championship on Netabalone

The daisy is with the honor.  At the time of the last survey carried out by Franck on the preferred opening of the players, the Belgian daisy carries it with 25% of the voices, while the Swiss daisy obtains the score low.  However, few things close, the setting of the balls on the board seem similar:  each dial of the board contains a petal of 7 balls and the axis of each pair of petal cuts the daisy in its center. Two parameters regulate the subtle starting variation:

• purity of the petal:  the petal can indeed be infected by the presence of an unfavorable ball in its heart.
• the shape of the daisy

Healthy daisies:  Belgian and German

The two pairs of petals of the Belgian daisy are laterally coupled and oppose the possible maximum distance on the frontal level, while they are at equal distance as well on the frontal level as side for the German daisy (distant of a line).

Infected daisies:  Dutch and Swiss

The Belgian and Dutch daisies are of identical form, just as the daisies German and Swiss.
The result of the surveys shows that the preference of the players goes towards a daisy to the healthy petals, and with the pairs frontally distant (Belgian variation), in opposition to the German variation, whose petals are infected, and the equidistant pairs of petals of only one line.

Why such preferences?

The objective of this tournament, in addition to travelling in the universe of the daisy, is also to include/understand of them the dark sides, which we seem to flee... unless it is not the opposite.  At the end of each tournament, a questionnaire is given to you - free to you to answer it - and information collected at the end of the championship will be a useful base to try to include/understand, together on the forum, subtleties of the daisy.

Rules of the Championship

The program the championship consists of 5 tournaments and is spread out over one month, each Thursday of the week with 21h30.

• the Belgian daisy:  20/10/2005
• the Dutch daisy:  27/10/2005
• the Swiss daisy:  03/11/2005
• the German daisy:  10/11/2005
• the Belgian daisy:  the 17/11/2005

The score
Only the 4 best results are taken in account for the final ranking of the championship. A won game counts for 1, a lost game for 0 and a draw for 1/2. The final score is the sum of points attributed during each game, and the winner will be the player who has achieved the highest score.

Modalities of the game
The opening variant is the Belgian daisy. Each player has a 10-minute thinking time, increased by 1 minute for each ejected marble. Exceeding the allowed time induces automatically the loss of the concerned player. Draw: if both players estimate that the game's configuration cannot reasonably change, they can declare by common assent the game as a draw.

Requirements to register
A Premium membership is required to play in this tournament, on the NetAbalone server. The lowest price to get a membership is 9.90 euros for 50 games.

Technical problems
In case of a bug or the disconnection of a player, the referee immediately suspends the game. The disconnected player has 10 minutes to come back. If he doesn't, his opponent wins by default. If the same problem is repeated three times for a player in the same game, his opponent wins by default.
When missing, the player is declared losing.

Cordially, Gohatto.

A new website dedicated to the abalone game, and particularly to the NetAbalone animation is born. The NetAbalone server is not the only server authorized and recognized by Abalone S.A, but the only one existing on the web.
The NetAbalone animation is developed first by "red" system operators, who are under the responsibility of the GOTOGAMES manager. The red S team and i-abalone group joint their force and work together. Also, their aim is to promote and develop the NetAbalone activity, and more generally, the game itself, in order to allow the most of people possible to discover and take pleasure with this fantastic and original game.
