I also want to remember you, that I use these categories to avoid too much elitism and hirarchy - I dont use categories like good players, very good players, best players and so on.
Certainly there are performance-differences between the players in each categorie, not only sharp-differences between the categories' styles.

Last but not least this are only "some" and not all very good players and this is only my impression. The main-aim of the list is to motivate other players to improve,  to appreciate the development of these listed players and to commemorate to the performance of some players, who left Netabalone -
... perhaps they come back, if they hear, that we "commemorate" to them  

 

In the fall of 2003 and spring of 2004 I collected results from about 600 games on NetAbalone and used them to compute the performance rating of the players.

The result should not be used uncritically since the games were not from tournaments, but it gives a rough indication of level.
