Advices for advanced players: Main-advices: 1. Play some games per week with at least 15-20 minutes thinking-time. -> This is necessary to recognize new patterns, structures and deep solutions 2. You can play very fast games, too, to train your reaction-time and to check your current stock of patterns and knowledge 3. Train your tactical skills with the aim to solve at least 4-5-move-winning-tasks ( Tasks: http://148009.aceboard.net/148009-115-42-0-Moves.htm ) 4. Play at least 2 starting-positions and try to find several good openings for each starting-position 5. Play the standard-starting-position with the aim to realise the stage 3 style and neglect the win (Style3: http://148009.aceboard.net/148009-2013-209-0-Standard.htm#vb ) 6. Analyse your lost games - if you like, than the won games, too. Figure out, why you have lost the games - tactically, positionally and strategically. (Analyses: http://148009.aceboard.net/148009-1987-1977-0-About-Analysis.htm#vb ) 7. Be aware of the three game-periods and the two transitional phases - during the games and for the analyses 8. To play Correspondence-games is a very fruitful way to analyse the game - strategical, positional, tactical - very deep, much more than in 20 minutes-games. ( Correspondence-Abalone: http://148009.aceboard.net/148009-1933-0-CorrespondenceAbalone.htm ) Supplements and Deepening: (Be careful with this Deepening) 1. If you have analysed short games (<35 moves), than try to play the game again only out of your memory – without the notation. 2. Try to solve “blind” – without the board and without an image - some “Winning-in-x-move”-tasks. 3. Play sometimes a blind-game. --Last edited by SilverSurfer on 2005-11-21 17:24:45 -- |
